CPRE National Office has asked for assistance in identifying unused or derelict land that could be used for new homes.

It makes no sense to tear up green fields and plant concrete for roads and foun-dations when hundreds of useful locations in towns and cities are available for redevelopment.

Members will be pleased to hear that two sites have been notified from the Island. The first is the eyesore area next to the Newport Fire Station and the second is the dismal apartment block across from Sandown Library.

  • Location of brownfield site (preferably a postcode or address)
  • Title for location/site (e.g. a road name, ‘disused factory’, etc.)
  • Description of site (and former use if applicable) - 100 words max
