CPRE-IW and IW Literary Festival creative writing competition with participation by children’s author, Sarah Holding.

The CPRE Isle of Wight branch is joining forces this year with the IWLF to encourage school children in Ryde and Newport to observe and appreciate their natural environment by sponsoring children’s author Sarah Holding to take them on a voyage of discovery through the countryside and on the beach as a Summer School project.

It is hoped that following their time with Sarah, their senses and imagination will be fired into producing a piece of creative writing based on their recent experiences and for the long term develop their enjoyment of the countryside and their desire to protect it. Our target is that interest generated by the competition will encourage young people eventually to become members of CPRE to carry our great tradition forwards into the Centenary Year of 2026.

Funding of this project comes from our legacy from Mrs Dorothy Frazer, a long-serving previous member, who wanted her bequest to be used for the benefit of the Isle of Wight.
