IW Council has now allowed the scheme.

2017 - latest updated.

Unfortunately, IW council has allowed the scheme to proceed on Appeal.

25 Jan 2017.

IW council has decided to turn down this planning application, which proposed unsustainable and inappropriate residential buildings with scant regard to the rural heritage on our Island.  CPRE Isle of Wight attended the local residents meetings and objected to the planning application which was covered in the County Press.

No doubt the battle will go on but Mark Gaskin who has led this extraordinary local opposition deserves credit.

83 yrs old Ryde resident David Marshall joins a fight to save Westridge Farm, Hope Road, Ryde, Isle of Wight from threat of closure.  David, who has lived next to the farm for fifty years and has witnessed the loss of seven milk producing dairy farms within a mile radius of Westridge Farm over the years, says he is taking action to help prevent the loss of the last remaining diary farm in the area.

Along with other concerned residents he has been helping hand deliver 2500 leaflets to households in areas surrounding Westridge Farm as part of a residents group called ‘Save Westridge Farm’.

David said ‘With Westridge Farm now the only working dairy farm left in the area and one of only ten dairy farms left across the whole Island producing milk, I believe it is essential we save it for future generations.’

‘I fear the consequences of the planning proposal to build over 80 properties on part of the farm will be closure of the farm and more large scale housing development across all of its fields.’

Ryde Town Council Planning Committee are holding a Consultation Event on 3rd May 7pm at Grace Church, Marlborough Road, Ryde to hear residents views on the proposed planning application.
